As a Malaysian, graduate from O-level about 10 yrs ago, after that taking a part time diploma course in SG is a tough decision to me. I was wondering would i be able to successfully complete the dip or not when i started my 1st or 2nd semester. Even until the 4th module, i was still having doubts. Thank god, all my anxiety and depression got resolved as soon as i met my marcomm module lecturer, Mr Jason Tan!!! I can still remember the 1st day i met Mr. Jason in the class, he looks like a gentle yet taciturn person, and i thought that he was our new students. Turns out, he is our lecturer?!! Haha..i will never forget that day. Mr. Jason is a special person and the most awesome lecturer that i ever met. In terms of teaching, he is more on sharing his personal experiences and able to let me to applied immediately in all walks of life. Jason has never fail to delight the class with his sense of humour and his knowledge, his teaching makes me enjoy his classes always. I really feel that going back to study and upgrade urself is not an issue no matter how old u are. I\'m so lucky to be 1 of Jason\'s students of.

After going through my first class, marketing principle in term 3, i actually wondered to myself "seriously, i think i chosen the wrong course", until when i started my first marketing communication class with Mr Jason, i felt so in love not only by the way he conduct his lesson but also with marketing.

I remembered when he entered the classroom during our first class, i turned to my best buddy beside me and whispered "see.. new student again, but wahh.. why is he placing his army bag in the lecturer sit?" . Thank god i whispered as the army boy that i had mentioned was actually my lecturer!(will never forget this epic moment).

Going through a part time course is way hectic than whatever anyone could imagined but the way Mr Jason conducted his lesson, it only brought lots of laughters and knowledges in regards to the actual working life and his experiences instead of the so-call incomplete guidebook which we can never learnt much from it.

Not only is he knowledgable, his hyper, inspiring, fun, awesome and definitely a great help in solving any of our problems that we are facing through, be it marketing or the university that we should choose after our diploma course.

We are lucky to have him as our lecturer, and sadly to say, we are also his last class that he will be teaching. Definitely a great lost to Kaplan and also the upcoming students as well.

Mr Jason, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the time and effort that you had put in just to make sure each class are full with laughter. Will never forget the way you inspired me to someday, be like you. All the best in your next venture, and i am sure you will do as well as how you did now. (:

p/s : I hope we will cross path again, so that i could learn more from you. You will be missed.

The Good and the Few

One of the toughest things one can do is to work in the day and go to school in the evening. This is my story, and coincidentally this was Jason's story as well.

It is a unique challenged to stay focused in class after dinner and the fun really begins onward of 7pm when the lecture starts to get into the intense stage. I managed to pull through for most of the year and since the course is coming to an end wasn't sure if I could keep at it as each module is noticeably harder than the previous one.

Then I met Jason. He came into the room and looked like a soft spoken and gentle person. Then he surprised all of us when he started to teach. Scarcely have I ever seen such versatility and high energy in a teacher before. He never failed to expound upon the Marketing Communications theories and correlated these with practical applications and always used common everyday terms to get his message across.

He did this consistently, everytime. A really energized person, a good teacher, a good communicator and a good friend. On occasion he would stay back after class and help students whether they had course related questions or needed help with deciding which specific marketing field to join or which university to apply to.

He is a unique person and I hope and wish that schools can get more teachers like him. I could use a plethora of hyperbole in my expression of how good he is, but it would fall short. Mostly what I feel and would like to convey would be a humble emotion of "sincere thanks."

Jason you are the only lecturer that our class clapped for after the lectures. We will miss you, and wish from the bottom of our hearts that you will find a great abode where you decide to call home next.

I hope to see you again. Warmest regards!

It is really awesome having Jason as a lecturer in the module- Marketing Principles.

He is definitely passionate in teaching, tons of patience, and of course his sense of humor in some theories. He'll probably shake his head if you apply the theories wrongly when it felt like he explained a thousand times- but still willingly guide you through the tough times.

Although, it is a very short period of time that I've attended your class, i really do appreciate the efforts and the motivation.

Overall it is a great experience ! Thank You Jason!

Wish you all the Best for your future endeavors!!!

Superbly memorable lessons

It is a blessing to have Jason as a lecturer, especially for a module that can be dry if taught solely based on the textbook.

Jason is very funny and entertaining but at the same time, is very serious in his lessons so that they bring the points across in a highly memorable way. His lessons are very casual and lively that constantly engage his students. Sometimes you may wonder how someone can be so witty and quick thinking at the same time to be able to keep injecting humor in his speech.

You can tell that he is very passionate in teaching his students, and is very thorough in his lesson preparation. His guidebook is filled with papers every few pages, which may seem very unusual and messy. But these papers are all his personal hand-made notes for every lesson, which he refers to when making fresh notes for the class during lessons.

I really appreciate this dedication of his, and am thankful that my learning about marketing was made simpler and easier to comprehend. I also applaud his effort to want to make every lesson count.

Sometimes, he gives mini education/life/career guidance talks to the class, which I feel is highly enlightening and enriching.

In short, I've enjoyed his classes very much and have taken a lot away from his lessons. Jason is by far, the best lecturer I've ever met, and if all other teachers/lecturers were like him, I think everyone would look forward to attending school.

Thank you, Jason!

Jason is passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge. He is very clear in his lectures, making understanding a breeze. Humour seems to be his forte too.

But all in all, his classes are one of the best I've ever taken and I think more educators in Singapore should take his approach in being passionate when it comes to teaching.

A funny, interesting and easy going lecturer who gets along well with his students. Took Principles of Marketing and Introduction to Mass Comm under him and it was easy to understand his teaching. A very approachable lecturer if any questions about his classes need to be answered.

It's hard to put a measurement on the lesson spent with Jason Tan, but all I can say that this 4 hours of my time is definitely worthwhile. All i can noticed from lesson 1 & 2 was laughter and 100% attention from the class. Jason was able to constantly engage with us by sharing with us his personal experiences(fun) which I think it can be applied immediately in all walks of life. All in all, I enjoyed Jason sytle of teaching and look forward to next lesson.
