| Black rimmed glasses
Spiky Crop Black jet hair
Reminds me of a local actor... famous for his role as Ah Bee...
Trendy clothes, Nike shoes
A youthful face with a vibrant personality
At first impression...
just another advertising student (I guess).
There he sat on the lecturer's desk, getting up the gears for a lecture and began his very 1st greeting for that semester... Smiling gleefully
A second thought...
He is so young and a lecturer? Must be the new-age creatives!
Boy, weren't we in for a roller coaster rider, taking on a cinematic trailer into the world of advertising!
Youtube clips has become part of our entree course.
Jason is like a creative chef, never fails to intrigue our senses ... with his unexpected live-action tactics.
Every session with Jason seems like a epic drama (Think- Glee) ;D
Like a buddy mentor who shower unconditional love and support towards his 'little siblings' aka students with motivational speeches that inspires these inexperience spirits to think out-of-the box ... turning a boring nerd into a cool trendy nerd! Isn't that awesome?
Originality might be great, but as students... we sometimes lack the industrial knowledge to draft out a brilliant blue-print. Often felt like caught-in-the-middle ... Jason, the strict critic surely knows when and where he shall step-in and drags us back to reality. Flooding us with questions and challenging our creative-blockage minds.
Looking back at those sessions,
Moi thought of two phrases to describe my learning journey with Jason the advertising guru
-Priceless advices
-Preciously Heartwarming.
To sum, Jason taught me beyond the curriculum of advertising.
He taught me about Communication and how it influences people.
From Your student,
Denise :)

| Jason was my Marketing Communications lecturer way back year 2008. Wow, that was really long ago. I hope it’s not too late to write a testimonial now. I really enjoyed attending his class because he is really lively and he doesn’t rush through the notes. Besides, he always entertained the class with his jokes. Anyway, keep up the spirit, Jason!

Jason was my lecturer for MarComms class (GDM 35th intake). I like the way he teaches in class, however, he usually rushed through the notes, given that he has to cover a whole load of lessons in 12 sessions. When he gave an example, he tried to come up with real-life example which he encountered in the workplace and I found it quite useful in terms of theory/concept application and explanation as it was easier to absorb what he's teaching. He also has a sense of humour as he occasionally entertained the class with his jokes. His collection of ads, whether it's video or print ad, is a good tool in teaching as it not only attracts students' attention but also makes it easier to apply as examples to the terms. All in all, he is a competent lecturer who can convey the insights of his subject to the students.
Thanks for everything, Jason!

| We had module named social media marketing in our institute (MIS). Fortunately, we got Jason as our lecturer for the module. We had awesome time and learnt a lot about social media marketing. Before this, i was not having very detailed idea about it. Basically, I have done MBA in Marketing, but it was general idea about marketing. Than, I learnt the real time marketing for social media like facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc.
I got into the module deeply, i was learning and enjoying the learning process. But at the end of module, i was like "is it over? i wanted to have it more and more...!!!"
But, i really gained the knowledge about social media marketing. And, i hope i can join Jason Tan some other time and learn from him more about social media marketing.
So, for time being, I'm gonna use the skills i have learnt from him.
Jason, I'm really happy to be in contact with you and to gain knowledge from you.
Thanks for being with us.

But, urs is not the same. u r sharing ur interesting experiences in the lessons which we really can't learn from the major subjects. The most important one is u can catch the attention from students and make your lessions approachable and fun. I think maybe u understand our black box as u r an advertiser. So, u can communicate with us so easily :)

| "You can use advertising concepts to solve everyday problems" - Jason Tan Strongerhead.
The difference between Jason and an average lecturer is that Jason has the ability to change the lives of his students.
Effort.
Jason puts in tremendous amount effort into his lessons.
1) He engages students and use various methods to capture their attention.
2) Advertising Concept taught by Jason does not only lie within the boundaries of the textbook, but he also teaches concepts used by actual agencies.
3) Jason makes sure that we understand and know how to apply concepts taught, through various exercises, which he would personally go through with each student guiding us on how to improve.
4) There are case studies, of videos, presentation slides of campaigns done by agencies exposed to us by Jason to help us understand and keep up with trends.
Care.
1) I have took four modules with Jason, and at the end of every module, he would give us valuable comments on how we are, our strengths and our weaknesses, and how we can work on each.
This greatly helped my grades, from a simple Pass during my 1st module to a High Distinction on my final sem.
2)Help is offered beyond the classroom, Jason extends his guidance even after students part from him. Strongerhead.com is living proof, and until today I still check back on this website for advice.
Through all the exercises done in classes along with all the motivation, Jason allowed me to realize that I had potential to do even better while gearing me up to enter the industry.
Thank you Jason tan Strongerhead, for your teachings and guidance. |

| It was a coincidence how I became a student under Mr. Jason Tan's teaching in Curtin. In my last semester of university, there had been complications where a core subject was not offered. Thus, I was told that the replacement subject would be automatically assigned to me. Several fellow mates were having the same issue yet it turned out that they were never in the same class as me. At that point, it was peculiar how I was the only student that had my core subject replaced to Advertising Principles 211.
This was the moment that Mr. Jason Tan has crossed my path. His subject were the first advertising subject I had taken which requires a prerequisite that was not a part of my course. Nevertheless, I was still granted to be studying under his instructions after all.
I would never forget that his classes were on this hectic day where I would have lectures from 9am upto 10pm. Not to forget that his subject would be the last before the night ends. However, I would never want to miss his class due to how unique and creative his teachings were. Out of 4 semesters I was in Curtin, never did I met a lecturer that has taught in a non-conventional way. I would say that he has revolutionized the way of teaching. The reason for me to not skip his class although I was very tired after a long day is very simple - he aroused the curiosity and creativity of students to its potential. Oh and did I mentioned how he has always made students never felt left out in class activites?
That being said, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration in being such a great lecturer. I also wanted to extend an additional thank you for the time I had spent under your teachings and instructions. I really enjoyed your subject and i cannot express how much i have taken away from your class. Furthermore, i have gained much from you as an individual as you have taught me more than academic especially through your strongerhead website Mr. Jason. I know i will take the things i have learned from you and apply them in my life's work. Your mentoring really had a positive impact in my life and I can never thank you enough.
Your Sincerely,
Martin Tjia. |

| Jason’s one of the most inspiring teachers I’ve met and it’s definitely my pleasure and honour to have taken 3 advertising modules under him.
When I first took advertising principles back in year 2, I entered his class with the thought of quickly getting pass a mundane lecture. But he proved that thought wrong immediately with his story-based introduction and his interesting array of teaching resources, strongerhead.com being one of them. What I really liked about his lectures was his consultative approach, and his ability to put his industry experiences into academic examples. He always had the innate ability to spot our weaknesses and identify our strengths.
As I proceeded with my last semester in Curtin, I’m glad to have taken my last 2 advertising modules under him. Campaign development was especially fruitful because he took the effort to open opportunities for us to meet industry professionals, allowing us to broaden our horizons and further define our career perspectives. This was what made learning real.
Undoubtedly, Jason always reaches out his helping hand to those who are unsure about their career direction, by guiding them through career planning and goal setting. What’s more, he even took on the role as a mentor to students who have met problems in their jobs, offering genuine advices.
Jason has gained my respect as a sincere lecturer who puts creativity into his teaching methods. And I’m sure many will agree with me on that. Well I guess that’s because good teachers like him, teach from the heart and not from the book. |

| Jason,
He is one of the guy that I would like to call it "professional teacher". Why? because he knows how to entertain the class when everyone seems bored or sick of studying. I called it "information overload" haha.Somehow, He makes everyone feels like they are being with their friends and feels comfortable to be around him.
His way of teaching is unique due to the facts that, he gave us real life examples on what has he has been through (you might think what unique about it?) it is unique because he is not embarrass to share about it. Perhaps, he makes it sound like a joke that every one would laugh about it. However, it seems that students tend to remember it and able to apply it during the examination.
although the course is short, I'm glad I've this opportunity to get to be in his class. I hope to be in your class again soon.Keep it up the good works and keep it interesting.
Thanks JASON

| Sorry Jason for the uber late testimonial!!
Jason is by far the nicest and funniest lecturer that i've ever met. Not only is he a cute and a lively character in class, he is also good at his teaching and he also tries his best to impart whatever knowledge he has about the Advertising industry to us. Instead of teaching us by the book, he also shares with us valuable insights and the reality of the industry. He puts in the effort to know every single student and make sure that each of us can catch up with his lessons. He manages to make advertising classes more interesting and fun, and it's always been a joy to attend his classes.
Jason is not only a lecturer, he is also a good friend and advisor. I often bug him whenever i need help in school work and decisions in career path or even in resume writings. He did not hesitate to help with all he can and also asked me how it went. It's really my pleasure to know such a great and inspiring teacher, who never fails to encourage and inspire me to reach for my goals. Jason made me realise that nothing is impossible!
Once again, THANK YOU JASON!! (and i'll see you in Campaign Dev class haha). I sincerely wish you all the best in whatever you do, and i am sure you are able to achieve whatever your goals are! |

| Jason is an asset to whichever organisation he works in, and also to the people around him. :) I believe that looks are deceiving and Jason is a true blue walking testimony... not that im talking about his gangster-like looks (LOL!), but underneath all that superficial traits about him lies someone that inspires and motivates people to reach their goals.
I didnt know what to expect when I had my very first class with him in Ad Principles 100. Ever since, I looked forward to more classes! Not because he has a quirky sense of humour, but he makes classes more exciting and most of all, he was willing to go out of his way to make sure every student understands. I think its fortunate that students like me get to be under his wing and learn things that can never be found in textbooks.
Its a pity that I wont have a chance to be in your class anymore Jason.. but I thank you for the 3 classes you've taught me. I've gained alot and im happy for the students that will be under your care in future :) Wish you all the best in fulfilling your goals! Be it retiring at 35 or even marrying megan fox, i've no doubts in your abilities.... =D

| I never really thought of being in advertising. First, I assume that advertisers simply take orders from their clients and execute them. Second, I thought that it is very difficult to find advertising jobs. Third, it seems like a lot of work to be done everyday in a very fast paced environment. Jason came along, and that was when I see the meaning of an advertising job and how rewarding it can be if you were to see your advertisement ideas come into reality.
Jason changed my life. He has helped me to secured my dream job - not through referrals but his interview tips. I will never forget that particular makeup lesson where he inspired me to have more drive and dream high. His never-give-up attitude is most admirable.
Through his tips (both in person and online), I presented myself better in front of my potential employer. For the advertising job, I sell myself based on how my personality will fit into the position. At the end of the one hour plus interview, my interviewer thought that I was outstanding. I was offered the job on the spot with a decent pay. I realised that it is okay not to have experience in that field, it's really all about how you "sell" yourself! Even my experience of customer service can come into good use for my new job. You just have to believe that each working experience can value add and reason your point with logic.
Through Jason's life stories, I also learned on how important teamwork is. One person's ability is only that much. Only if you have your teammates help, you can achieve synergy and achieve greater success. Once again, thank you Jason. I wish to emphasis again that you are a rare lecturer that cares about students' future greatly. You have gone beyond the duties of a lecturer for your students. I certainly feel very honored to be one of your student. Given the chance, I will vote you to be Singapore's president. (Kidding, kidding~) |

I especially enjoy watching the TV ads and how he uses them as examples to link them to the lessons. He makes the students interact with him and participate in the various marketing syllabus.
It was a pleasure being his student... Thank you Jason! |

| "Looks are deceiving." A quote I can say about our lecturer, Mr Jason Tan. He may look young, but I believe the experience he has achieved is a lot more than his how he looks. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, based on what you have gone through...your class is definitely a wholesome one! Glad to be able to learn from you again this semester! Distinction awaiting! |

| Looking back, i dunno if having Jason as a lecturer for my graduating sem was a good or bad thing. :P Jason's way of teaching is different. Der's no textbk involved (YEA!!), loads of videos to watch, & he shares a lot from his experience. From his sharing, he shone light into my perception of advertising world. "Muz be ready to get ur hands dirty" were his exact words. BUT..He also liked to catch us off-guard.Had us prepare & present a pitch der & den during our FIRST class, n pitch ads he's selected on our last second lesson!! So for those who dunno.. BEWARE!! N having him decide our topic for project made graduating sem HELL for us.. Dyson Vacuum Cleaner!! Tis is prob e WORST topic we've ever received. HAHA n maybe it was also hell for him, having to reply our numerous emails.
So once again Jason, i enjoyed ur lessons, n thanks for ur guidance. :)
P.S: Hey Jason, rem to gif me e 50 bucks we've agreed on for writing a wonderful testimonial for u.. :P |

| I like that your classes are always funny as it lightens up the dull atmosphere in class. You're also always available whenever we have questions (outside of class) so that's good too! And I like it when you try your best to explain to students who do not understand certain advertising concepts. Very patient and efficient! |

| I had the pleasure of being in Jason's class during my Diploma in Sales & Marketing course in MIS. Simply said: Jason stood out from the others. Being young and a practitioner in the industry, Jason's classes are always relevant and informational. By bringing in real-life examples and case studies from his day-job, Jason is able to give insights and information that only a professional marketer can. It certainly helped us to understand the subject topic better. As a person, Jason is unassuming and is always ready to provide academic assistance or even a friendly chat in the corridors.

He uses simple and easy to understand laymans term to help us relate to our lessons..he also showed us different commercials which i find them very useful..i remembered the "fake jason money"..we had to answer questions..accumulate the money and bid for our references..he will create jokes and laugh in class..his laughter is really contagious..you will wanna laugh with him..what i like about his class is there is no right or wrong rules in advertising..you jus need to know the core foundation and let the creativity lead the way..at the end of the lesson,we will go through a series of exercise of what we have learn..JASON..you rock!! |

Especially after one day work, most of the classmates were very tired and he would able to make everybody pay attention to his lessons. He would normally played video for the relavant chapter to emphasize the objective of the chapter. He made an effort to encourage everybody to participate in discussion.
I will be very happy to attend his class again. |

| He already scored high marks for his young looks being a lecturer! Haha...
*Attention Please*Attention Please* (haha)
Seriously, having been in the school for nearly half a year, he is the only lecturer that i won't want to miss his lessons. After a tiring day at work, his lessons always makes the class look forward to. Because he is full of passion and enthusiasm towards advertising. Because of this passionate towards advertising, you will be motivate by him to have that sense of passion and enthusiasm as well!
The whole class will be awake because of him being so humorous. His unconventional way of teaching makes us feel comfortable and eventually he is like a friend rather than a lecturer. He always have his ways to make the class more interesting rather than boredom,
and always cite very useful examples from his vast experience in advertising that makes us see a bigger picture comparing to reading from the text.
He is the only lecturer that i didn't make any negative or bad comments about. *opps, haha....
I believe the whole class enjoy the lessons conducted by him, because i did.
That's jason for you. |

| Hmmm. Jason come across as a very hype teacher. His bags of tricks is very interesting and always has many surprises in each lesson. He has a huge collection of advertisements to help us understand how and why advertising can communicate certain thoughts to the viewer. I remember he showed us an advertisement by the ministry for the benefits of having family. The advertisement which shows a funeral scene was indeed touching. And made me feel that it is really very important to take good care of your family members as they do not live forever.
He has helped me to earn the knowledge that i needed for brand management and I would like to express my most sincere thanks for his effort and wish him good luck in his teaching career.
